Wood Pressed Coconut Oil is Tribal Eco Shop’s traditionally prepared cold-pressed coconut oil, crafted using the time-honoured Wooden Ghani (wooden expeller) method — a slow, low-temperature pressing technique that has been central to Indian oil-extraction tradition for centuries. Unlike modern refined oils processed with heat and chemical solvents, our Wood Pressed Coconut Oil is extracted purely through mechanical cold-pressing, with no heat, no additives, no preservatives, and no refining processes of any kind.

The result is a pure, unrefined coconut oil that retains its natural aroma, its characteristic coconut fragrance, and the full nutritional profile of the raw coconut. It is suitable for a wide range of everyday uses — from cooking and culinary preparation to topical hair and skin care as part of a daily wellness routine. Available in two sizes: 500ml and 1 Litre.

• Wood Pressed Coconut Oil is naturally rich in medium-chain fatty acids (MCFAs), including lauric acid, caprylic acid, and capric acid — the naturally occurring fat profile of coconut. It also contains naturally occurring Vitamin E (tocopherols) and polyphenols, preserved through the cold-pressing process. These are the natural components of coconut oil as it occurs in the raw coconut — present in our product because nothing has been removed or altered.

The Wooden Ghani Method —
The Wooden Ghani is a traditional Indian oil press, historically powered by bullocks or manual labour and now adapted to slow-speed mechanical operation. The defining characteristic of the Wooden Ghani process is its extremely low operating temperature — the wooden barrel and pestle generate minimal friction heat, keeping the oil well below the temperatures that would compromise the integrity of heat-sensitive nutrients, natural fats, and aromatic compounds.

This slow, cold extraction preserves the oil’s natural state as closely as possible to the raw coconut, delivering an unrefined product that is distinctly different from commercially refined coconut oils — in aroma, flavour, colour (naturally off-white or pale yellow), and nutritional character.

Tribal Eco Shop’s Wood Pressed Coconut Oil undergoes no bleaching, no deodorising, no hydrogenation, and no chemical treatment of any kind. It is a single-ingredient product: cold-pressed coconut oil, nothing else.

• Use directly as a cooking oil for tempering, sautéing, baking, or cold preparations.
• Measure as you would any cooking oil. Solid at room temperature below ~24°C — gently warm the jar in warm water to liquefy before use if needed.
• Warm a small amount of oil by placing the bottle in warm water. Massage gently into the scalp and hair from root to tip.
• Leave on for a minimum of 30 minutes, or overnight for a deeper conditioning experience. Wash off with a mild herbal shampoo.
• Use 1–2 times per week as part of a regular hair wellness ritual.
• Apply a small amount directly to clean skin. Massage gently until absorbed.
• For baby massage, warm the oil slightly and apply with gentle strokes. Suitable for daily use.
• Take 1 tablespoon of coconut oil and swish gently around the mouth for 10–15 minutes. Do not swallow. Spit into a bin (not the drain). Rinse mouth with warm water and brush as usual.
• Best practiced on an empty stomach as part of a morning Ayurvedic wellness ritual.
